PPP Sindh council member shot dead

A member of PPP Sindh Council has been shot dead in firing incident in Gulzar Hijry area here on Monday. According to details, Sardar Imam Baksh Baloch was going on his car when some unidentified person opened fire at his vehicle in the jurisdiction of Gulzar Hijry police station and he died on the spot.
The driver of Sardar Imam Baksh Baloch wounded in the attack. Police reached the spot and shifted the dead and injured to hospital. President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed shock and grief over the killing of Sardar Imam Bux Baloch, member of PPP Sindh Council.
While condemning the incident, the president ordered an inquiry into the matter and directed that those involved in the murder be brought to justice.
In his condolence message to the bereaved family of Sardar Imam Bux, the president expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for the deceased.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of Imam Baksh Baloch was offered at his native graveyard in Balochgoth Gharibabad amid hundreds of mourners.
Police arrest several suspects during raids: Police and security forces conducted search operations in different areas of Karachi on Monday and arrested more than a dozen accused and recovered arms from their possession. According to media reports, police conducted a targeted operation at Al Asif Square in Sohrab Goth and arrested five suspects and recovered bullets from their possession.
Police also conducted operation in Maripur area and held six accused. Ammunition was also recovered from their possession while the accused were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
Ban on sale of liquor in Ramdan: A complete ban on the sale of liquor in Sindh has been placed on the special request of Provincial Minster for Excise and Taxation Mohkish Kumar Chawla in the holy month of Ramdan.
Stern action will be taken against the shopkeepers violating the ban and their licenses will be cancelled. The minister has directed the relevant departments to constitute specials terms to monitor the ban and take action against the violators. These steps were taken to maintain the dignity of holy month of Ramdan.
