HEC provides 1041 jobs at Public Universities

Higher Education Commission’s Interim Placement of Fresh PhDs (IPFP) Programme has placed 1041 Pakistani PhDs as Assistant Professors across the country at both public and private sector, in academic and research universities.
The scholars have been placed in fields like Water Resource Management, Biotechnology, Food Engineering, Animal Nutrition, Bio Chemistry, Nano Chemistry and Nano Catalysis, Plasma Physics, Supply Chain Management, Water Resource Engineering, Cell Biology, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Fish Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, High Energy Physics, Biomedical Textiles, Leadership, Culture & Social Preferences, Geophysics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Business Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, Environmental Sciences, Biomedical Textiles and others.
Initially the scholars are employed for a period of one year on a salary package of Rs104,000 per month and on completion of their tenure they may be rehired on permanent basis.
HEC also offers these scholars a startup research grant of Rs0.5 million upon joining the host institutions.
As a result of the visionary approach, it has provided opportunities to pursue higher degrees both at domestic and international level.
HEC Interim Placement of Fresh PhDs Program provides the lucrative avenues of employment to the fresh PhD professionals and meets the faculty requirement of public and private sector universities for ensuring quality teaching and research.
IPFP provides opportunity to all fresh PhD graduates to be placed as Assistant Professor on a tenure track system.
This ongoing regular program is open to all fields.
The scholars have found this programme quite useful and effective and have termed it as quite helpful in countering brain drain at the national level.

  1. Its not called lucky its is something they deserve for their hard work. You have to give a lucrative incentives to bring back phDs who are in foreign countries getting a reasonable salaries for their efforts. I appreciate HEC for taking the step.

    • But HEC should not see their PhD degree only. They should be selected through a competitive exam system. It is my personnel experience that mostly PhDs lack basic knowledge of their subject. I observed many PhDs who failed during the recruitment tests for lecturers.

      • concerning a PhD failing in tests for lecturers,..the thing is that Universities policy is not to take a PhD in grade 18 which is of lecturer. They are always offered 19 grades now….Your personal experience might not justify the case of 1041 scholars lack basic knowledge of their subject.
