Nearly 200,000 girls attending schools in FATA

Over 194,637 girl students are enrolled in around 2349 educational institutions of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
This was conveyed to the Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON), in a meeting recently held, chaired by its Chairman Senator Mohammad Saleh Shah Qureshi.
Officials of FATA secretariat informed the committee that around 124,424 girl students were enrolled in 1551 girls primary schools, while 19,614 students in 158 girl middle schools.
Similarly, as many as 13,837 girl students were studying in 42 Girls High Schools and 1,134 students in five girls Higher Secondary Schools.
At least 534 girls’ community schools were providing education facilities to 32105 students and 13 Government Degree girls’ colleges have 2,532 students.
The committee was further apprised that a total of 3,627 teachers were imparting education in primary school, 1,157 teachers at middle level, 508 at high schools, 109 teachers at higher secondary schools, 184 at girls Degree Colleges, 79 schools teachers at IHC and 849 schools teachers at girls’ community schools.
It was told that under education sector reforms program various steps have been taken for improvement of education in these areas.
The steps taken for improvement included scholarship schemes for 7-12 class, intermediate, masters and professional colleges numbering 30,000 per year, free text books for all students from classes 1 to 10 and establishment of Cadet College Wana.
The other incentives included provision of food including
biscuits, oil and wheat flour to the girl students on attendance, establishment of FATA Education Foundation, up gradation of Parachinar, Miranshah and Khar degree colleges to Post Graduate level, introduction of cluster system where head master of high school is In charge of middle or primary schools and formation of elected Taleemi Islahi Jirga in each school.

  1. Sure attending schools destroyed by Pk Proxies & some left occupied by Pk army, come out of your air conditioned drawing rooms & visit real FATA
