Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Fazlur Rehman has said that other institutions would get an opportunity to interfere in the functioning of the parliament if the rulers themselves would not implement its decisions. In an interview here on Sunday, Fazlur Rehman said that the situation demanded that the government should take all the parties inside and outside the parliament into confidence and establish an independent caretaker government to organise elections. He said the future of the country was linked with democracy and all the political parties would have to pursue democratic attitude. Replying to a question, the JUI-F chief said the present parliament had adopted a number of important resolutions including against US drone attacks but regretted that the government had not implemented them. He said when the government itself would violate the parliamentary resolutions, it would give an excuse to others to do the same and give them an invitation to interfere in our affairs. To a question, Fazlur Rehman said resumption of NATO supplies was not in Pakistan’s interest and would lead to deterioration in situation. He said only rulers would be held accountable for any deterioration in situation. He said unfortunately the US had never been a well-wisher of Pakistan but our rulers had always been submitting to the dictates of Washington.
