Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, along with his cabinet members, on Sunday held a meeting with the elite, public representatives, local leaders of PPP and representatives of Hindu Panchiat of the town. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that during 2010 flood, many small and large villages of Kandhkot district were affected. For the rehabilitation and development of the affected areas, Rs 60 million were given to each MPA of this district during 2010 and 2011, and this the amount has been increased to Rs 80 million, an official statement issued here said. In addition, he said, the development schemes of Rs five billion and 200 million in different sectors were in progress in the district.
He also announced Rs 300 million package for rehabilitation of important towns of the district. He said that the elected representatives had informed him that law and order situation in the district was satisfactory which has provided a moral boost to his Government.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that PPP-led provincial government was doing its best for improving health facilities in the district. In this regard, he continued, three ambulances were being given to the office of District Health Officer (DHO). Whereas, for recruitment of lady doctors in the district, a summary would be forwarded to Sindh Public Services Commission.
He said that the work on the drainage schemes of Ghouspur and Kandhkot was in progress and these would help keep the towns clean.
He said that the Federal Government had assigned the task of constructing a bridge on Indus linking Ghotiki and Kandhkot. He would seek support from President Asif Ali Zardari to get this project executed at the earliest. This bridge would help improve law and order situation in the area. When his attention was drawn to the issue of the BPL and Qadirpur Gas Field bunds in Indus, the Chief Minister assured that the issue would be taken in IRSA meeting. The IRSA would be told these bunds were threat to the safety of people of Sindh and that these bunds should be demolished. He informed that Federal Government had to pay Rs 35 billion to Sindh and on its receipt, the development work would be expedited in the province.
The Chief Minister said that he had directed the MNAs and MPAs from Sindh to monitor the development activities in their respective constituencies. He said that a Circuit House would be constructed in Kandhkot and a complex would construct Tangwani for setting up the offices. Senior officers of Sindh Government also attended the meeting.
