How the other half split

When most young unmarried couples break up, the division of their joint possessions rarely gets more complicated than the separation of their CD collection. But when millionairess Tamara Ecclestone split from boyfriend Omar Khyami last week, dividing up the spoils of their two-and-a-half year relationship proved rather more complicated. Tamara, daughter of Formula One’s billionaire owner Bernie Ecclestone, dumped businessman Mr Khyami on Thursday after being shown a video of him engaging in a series of sex acts with an unidentified person.
Within hours, 28-year-old Tamara – whose father is worth an estimated £2.5 billion – had already begun moves to carve up their assets into ‘his and hers’ lots worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. First, she locked up her collection of prized supercars, which they both drove – including a Lamborghini Aventador worth £201,900 and a Ferrari 599 worth £212,096 – in a private garage away from the £4 million Chelsea home the couple shared.
The model and television presenter, who has been staying with her sister Petra at her home in Eaton Square in Belgravia, then arranged for two other cars and jewellery worth more than £145,000 to be delivered to Mr Khyami’s mother’s house in Mayfair, Central London. The items included a yellow gold Cartier ‘Love’ bracelet worth £26,250 and matching silver Cartier ‘Love’ bracelet costing £36,500, a rose gold Rolex Submariner watch worth £32,000 and another diamond encrusted watch believed to be worth up to £50,000, which Miss Ecclestone bought for her boyfriend during their relationship. Miss Ecclestone – whose two live-in bodyguards have been warned to stop Mr Khyami, 38, entering the home, and who changed the locks on the property – also returned a £123,000 white Bentley with personalised ‘T48’ numberplates, a Christmas present from Mr Khyami, and a £76,000 black Range Rover Sport.
Miss Ecclestone told The Mail on Sunday: ‘This has been the worst week of my life.’ She had been due to move into a £45 million 55-room home in Kensington, West London, with Mr Khyami in the autumn and had spoken of hopes to marry and start a family. Those plans are now in tatters after Mr Khyami’s infidelity came to light when a low-quality 30-second video showing him engaging in a series of sex acts went public. After being confronted by Miss Ecclestone, he claimed the video pre-dated their relationship and had been leaked as part of a blackmail plot against him. But sources close to Miss Ecclestone believe she has ‘absolute proof’ the video was filmed recently because two Cartier bracelets Mr Khyami was seen wearing in the tape were gifts from her.
