Federal Minister Wajahat Hussain has said that the Employers Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), a welfare organisation, is doing its level best to bring about positive changes in the lives of working community of industrial and commercial organisations.
While speaking at the concluding session of a conference of the EOBI’s regional heads, he asked them to have access to the grassroots’ level to achieve the goals of the institution.
He said the EOBI was basically a welfare institution for the working class which provided financial support to the workers of industrial and commercial establishments.
He said the government had taken revolutionary steps for employees and EOBI pensioners. The minimum pension had been raised from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,600 per month, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, EOBI Chairman Zafar Iqbal Gondal directed the regional heads to personally visit the field, inform the employees of the benefits of the scheme and convince them to get their units registered with the EOBI.
The age limits of pension shauld be 55 years instead of 60 years for EOBI members.
