Another brutal lesson in violence

At least five persons were killed and several others injured in various incidents of violence in the city on Saturday. A youth, Salim Ahmed, was killed by unidentified gunmen in Landhi area 36-B. His body was taken to Jinnah Hospital. Tension gripped the area after the incident.
According to police, some unidentified persons opened fire in Godhra area of New Karachi, killing one person and injuring another. The deceased was identified as Shoaib, 25, and the injured included Ishaq, 26. Residents of the Godhra Road area staged a protest after the killing of youth. They chanted slogans against provincial government and law enforcement authorities and demanded to arrest the culprits.
Meanwhile, a police official who was injured in firing incident in Pak Colony two days ago succumbed to injuries during treatment in hospital.
A man was shot dead in firing incident in Landhi No 6. The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Saleem.
Meanwhile, a man was killed and six others were injured when a passenger bus turned turtle due to over speeding in Landhi’s Feature Colony near Gharibabad Underpass. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where according to hospital sources condition of two injured people was serious.
Five killed in armed clash in Shikarpur: At least five persons were killed and several others were injured in an armed clash between two rival groups here on Saturday.
According to police, armed men of two groups belonging to Madeeji, suburban area of Shikarpur, had old rivalry over property and marriage disputes. In cross firing, five persons belonging to both groups were killed while several others sustained injuries. The police after getting the information reached the scene and brought the situation under control. The injured were rushed to hospital where according to hospital sources condition of many injured people was serious. The police arrested several suspects belonging to both groups and started investigations.
