Muslims across Pakistan, except in some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will observe the first fast today (Saturday) as the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced on Friday that the moon of the holy month of Ramadan has been sighted in the country. The announcement was made by Committee Chairman Mufti Munibur Rehman after a meeting held at Meteorological (Met) Office in Karachi. He announced that Ramazan 1, 1433 Hijri, will fall on July 21 (today). The month of Ramadan began in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and some parts of Pakistan’s KP province on July 20, as well as for Lebanon’s Sunni Muslims.
