Police introduce free ambulance service


The Islamabad police have launched free ambulance service for immediate assistance to patients in case of any emergency and it will continue its various programmes for guidance and welfare of citizens, said Inspector General of Islamabad Police Bani Amin Khan.
Reviewing the various programs launched by Islamabad police especially its help line-Rescue 15, the IGP said that Islamabad police have introduced free of cost and round the clock ambulance service which would immediately shift the patients to hospital after receiving call. He said that even medicines are also being provided to the patients at their homes and funds are provided by Islamabad police in case patients are not in position to pay the cost.
The IGP said that two more ambulances have been provided to Rescue 15 to ensure success of this service. The Islamabad police have introduced a service at Rescue 15 through which one can know about status of vehicle whether it is genuine or stolen by simply sending SMS to 8521 through a cell phone.
Highlighting the salient features of this service to be called stolen vehicles identification system, IGP Bani Amin Khan said that persons anywhere in Pakistan will write down simply chassis number of the vehicle and send it to 8521. Within less than 20 seconds all details about the subject vehicle will be displayed on his mobile, the IGP said and hoped for curbing car theft incidents through this way.
Regarding other services of Rescue 15, the IGP said that 38 vehicles have been provided to the staff serving at this help line and the sole purpose of this logistic support is to ensure help to citizens in case of any trouble. The response time of Rescue 15 is four minutes and its services are being further improved, he added. The IGP said that crime of car theft has also reduced in the city. He said that 43 cops of Islamabad police have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and this force will never bow before mischievous elements and to continue efforts for ensuring protection to citizens.
