The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is reluctant to provide the facility of air conditioners to cool the big hall in Faisal Mosque during the Taraveeh congregation in Ramadan.
Extreme and suffocating weather conditions are expected during the holy month, but the CDA has agreed upon nothing more than providing air conditioners in the Faisal Mosque only during the last ten days of Ramadan on the request of Dawah Academy. Sources said air conditioners in the mosque need repair and no action has been taken in this regard.
Due to negligence of the CDA, power outages, unavailability of potable water, worn-out floor and absence of proper arrangement for safety of visitors’ shoes are common problems at Faisal Mosque.
Prior to the month of Ramadan, during a meeting held at Dawah Academy with Dawah Academy Director General Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman in the chair, foolproof security measures, provision of a generator, repair of streetlights and improvement of shuttle service from Faisal Chowk to Faisal Mosque had been proposed.
It had been suggested that policewomen should be deployed for body search of women visiting the mosque and they should be especially present at the entrance during the Friday congregations and the days of Aitakaf.
It had also been mentioned during the meeting that streetlights from Faisal Chowk to Faisal Mosque were not functioning and they must be repaired for avoiding any security lapse. In addition, walkthrough gates must work with accuracy at the entrance of the mosque, the participants recommended. For uninterrupted power supply to the mosque, a double-phase connection must be given or as an alternate, a 1500-KV generator must be provided, it was demanded by the participants of the meeting.
According to sources, Dawah Academy has asked the CDA authorities to take measures in the light of the recommendations.
