Pindi’s Rs 2.76b annual budget approved

Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Thursday approved its annual budget for the year 2012-13 with total outlay of over Rs 2.76 billion, focusing on construction of Nullah Leh Expressway, Murreer Chowk Tunnel and Shah Khalid Underpass.
The RDA’s governing body meeting chaired by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar approved the fiscal plan of the authority under which a number of development projects will be executed besides bringing improvement in different facilities like clean drinking water and sewerage system.
“Punjab government will give Rs. 919.145 million under the Annual Development Plan (ADP),” Director General of the authority Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed said while briefing the mediapersons.
He said the authority allocated Rs250 million, Rs 352.100 million, Rs 41.162 million and Rs 90 million for the projects of Nullah Leh Expressway, Murreer Chowk Tunnel, Adyala Road and Shah Khalid Underpass respectively.
Under the non-developmental expenditures, the RDA DG said Rs 90.413 million have been earmarked for salaries of employees.
He said Rs 400 million have been allocated for water supply and sewerage systems including payment for water being received from Khanpur dam, installation of new tube-wells and laying of sewerage lines for Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.
The governing body meeting was attended among others by MNA Malik Shakeel Awan, MPA Ziaullah Shah besides administrators of Potohar and Rawal Towns.
