Model Town Football Academy Futsal tournament concluded here on Thursday and prizes were given to winners of various age groups at MFTA ground.
Nearly four hundred children drawn in different age groups participated in the week long football festival which aimed at imparting basic and secondary points of the game and to develop a passion of football among the emerging youth.
Large gathering of parents attended the prize distribution ceremony and notable performers were awarded medals, trophies and souvenirs.
The futsal competition continued for the whole week under lights and a keen competition was witnessed among the children which indicates their interest in taking up football as s sport in years to come, said Mian Rizwan Ali ,President, MFTA while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony.
He highlighted the efforts of MFTA for football at grass root level and called for launching more efforts at early level to give football a new popularity in Pakistan.
He said MFTA will organize a bigger tournament after Eid in which special focus will be laid on the participation of junior teams.
Following are the names of winning teams in different age groups,
(Boys) 3-5 years, MFTA Blues,4-6 years, Sparrow, 6-9 years, Karachi, 10-13, Islamabad, 14-16, Islamabad.
(Girls) 8-15, Team A 1st, , Team B 2nd.
Summer Camp winning team was also Sparrow in 4-6 years of age group while Lahore win the 6-9 years age group competition and Islamabad stood first in 10-16 years of age cetegroy.
