Faha Makhdoom, the wife of tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq, reportedly launched a legal action against social networking site Facebook after it failed to close a fake account that had been used to spread false news on her behalf. According to a private TV channel, Faha decided to contact her lawyers after a fake account published malicious rumours about the celebrity couple. Quoting Faha’s father, Dr Akmal Makhdoom, the report said that false accusations regarding the Qureshi family were being spread in Faha’s name on the said page. “Various fake accounts on her name were created as soon as she and Aisam got engaged. Faha personally approached Facebook several times to take action against these accounts but no notice was taken,” he said. “This site is being used to abuse our families and is causing distress to us all, especially our daughter.” Last week, Pakistani media reported that Aisam and his wife Faha had decided to end their marriage seven months after tying the knot on December 17, 2011. It had been reported that Aisam had sent divorce papers to Faha after the couple failed to develop an understanding.
