It took the intelligences sleuths of the armed forces three months to bust a gang of thieves was targeting the houses of army officials inside the Pakistan Naval Complex, Air Complex and Khan Research Laboratory Housing Society, Pakistan Today has learnt. Sources said that the Naval Intelligence busted a 10-member strong gang of burglars who had been operating in Air Complex and Naval Complex for the last four months. The gang of thieves several times managed to sneak into Naval Complex, Air Complex and KRL Housing society and targeted dozens of houses there. They said that before operating in Islamabad, the gang targeted many houses in Defence Housing Society, Lahore, from where they took some official cards and identity cards and used them while entering the said complexes. The sources said that they targeted 18 houses in Air Complex and two in Naval Complex. They said that members of the gangs were wanted by Rawalpindi and Islamabad police in 35 cases of house burglary. When the incidents of burglary increased in the highly secured area, the intelligence agencies of Air Force and Navy came into action. And finally, Naval Intelligence managed to bust the gang and recovered looted items, including jewellery and other valuables worth millions of rupees. The Naval Intelligence handed over the gang members to police. “Yes, some days ago, we busted a gang of thieves who committed burglaries in Naval Complex and Air Complex,” said a senior officer of Pakistan Navy who wished not to be named. The officer said that an internal inquiry was also underway to trace link of the burglars with the staff.
