Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday demanded the government hold negotiations over the caretaker setup for the next general elections.
Talking to media after a meeting of district presidents and general secretaries of PML-N from all over Punjab, Nawaz said the upcoming time was extremely important for the country, adding the caretaker setup should be constituted in consultation with all stakeholders.
Emanating confidence, the two-time premier Nawaz said the coming time would unfold who would give tough time to whom. “If you give us the tough time, we will reciprocate,” he added, hailing the appointment of Justice (r) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim as the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). Nawaz said he wished institutions to be buttressed so that nobody could dare undertake the riggings during the next elections. The PML-N head said that strong political parties were the true guarantee to the stability of a democratic system, and a vibrant and dynamic Muslim League would ensure a robust democracy and a stable Pakistan.
He said that PML-N had performed many unprecedented feats, including strengthening of institutions in Pakistan, independence of judiciary, predominance of constitution and putting the national economy on the road to rapid progress. He also pointed out that in the previous elections efforts were made to unjustly keep the PML-N leadership away from the elections. They were allowed to participate in the process only on the last day of submission of nomination papers.
