In the name of law and order

In wake of ongoing tussle between the judiciary and government in Pakistan, the Sindh Lawyers movement has been launched in support of the judiciary and to resolve the issues and problems as well as to struggle for the streamlining of the judicial and legal system of Pakistan and province of Sindh
A meeting was held in Karachi on Wednesday, where former Advocate General Sindh Masood A Noorani was elected as chairman and Supreme Court Advocate Abdul Wahab Baloch as a General Secretary of the Movement.
Talking to Pakistan Today General Secretary of movement Abdul Whab Baloch said it was the need of the hour to form an effective body of lawyers in order address the problems, issues and grievances of the community attached to legal profession as well as to struggle for reformation the judicial and legal system of country and province and bring it at par to the international standard.
Baloch said that the body would ensure that the fundamental rights of the people of the Sindh province and their historical, cultural, economical, natural and other basic rights are not being violated by any person or authority including the government. The movement would whenever necessary, engage in public litigation on behalf of the people of the province of Sindh to defend their aforementioned rights.
Baloch further said that movement would ensure that the courts are allowed to work with full independence and are not pressurize or coerced to deviate from dispensing justice at all levels, however it was further resolved that the movement would strive to ensure that all courts from top to bottom act strictly with in the boundaries of “Code of Conduct of Judge “as framed by the Supreme court of Pakistan its self.
Chairman of Movement Maoosd A Noorani said that the issue of provincial autonomy, which has been put on back banner and forgotten conveniently will deliberately be retaken. The movement was of the view that that provincial autonomy out lined in the Constitution of Pakistan required re-visiting so as to bring it in accordance to spirit of Lahore resolution 1940, he added further.
Advocate Supreme Court M.B Khatiyan, Advocate Muharram G. Baloch, Ghulam Mustfa Lakho, Muhammad Asif Qureshi, Syed Ahmed Ali Shah were elected as members of managing committee of Sindh Lawyers Movment.
