Behind every sharp tongue is a wounded heart

Punjab University Department of Public Relations hosted an evening with Hassan Nisar at the Executive Club.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, Raja Anwar, Dr Mujahid Mansoori, Dr Ajmal Niazi, Hafeez Khan, Saeed Azhar, Chaudhry Akram, Tariq Majeed Qureshi, Sofia Baidar, Cartoonist Javed Iqbal and other renowned journalists participated in the event.
PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said that Hassan Nisar was gifted with the outstanding ability of telling the truth, he was not a hypocrite and expressed all his feelings without succumbing to pressure.
Senior Journalist Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami said that Nisar impressed him the most among contemporary writers, Nisar wanted to change the society and was a sensitive writer.
Renowned politician Hafeez Niazi said that Nisar’s personality was a mystery. He said that he was basically a private person but had a large number of friends and was aware of the tribulations of the common man.
Punjab Education Foundation Chairman Raja Anwar said that Nisar always suggested solutions in his writings. He said that he never preferred lies to the truth and introduced new idioms and sentences in his writings.
Chaudhry Akram, another renowned politician said that Nisar was a brave journalist who spoke against rulers before them. He said that Nisar pointed out problems and showed the people a ray of hope.
Renowned columnist Prof Dr Mujahid Mansoori said that Nisar touched the feelings of the common man beautifully, which was a great challenge. He said that Nisar used a realistic approach in his columns, some people labeled Nisar as the ‘trader of disappointment’ but his style was illuminating.
Columnist Dr Ajmal Niazi said that Nisar was the kind of personality who could irk anyone, but was bestowed with courage and expertise.
Senior Journalist Saeed Azhar said that Nisar’s personality was triangular and every corner consisted of him in the capacity of a man, as an approach and as a group of columnists. He said that Nisar had undergone all the phases a common Pakistani had passed through. He said that his thinking was determined and the balance of his writing had always remained consistent. He termed Nisar as the Abdullah Hussain of journalism.
Renowned columnist Sofia Baidar said that her father always thought of Nisar with expressions of endearment. She said that the qualities of Muneer Niazi were present in the writings of Nisar.
Towards the end, Hassan Nisar shared his memories with the participants and the PU VC presented him with a souvenir.
