The segregation of boundaries of various localities lying between Rawalpindi and Islamabad has not been finalised by the revenue department for unknown reasons despite passage of two decades.
Sources said that department of revenue had demarcated the boundaries of only 29 localities out of 45 in two decades. The department concerned has fixed the date of June 30, 2013, for the completion of demarcation of the remaining 18 localities’ boundaries. It merits mentioning here that the said department initiated the work on delineation of the boundaries of various localities in the twin cities in 1993, but still the work is underway which will consume some more time due to the laziness of the officials of the department concerned.
The sources said that Islamabad has 56 localities, tehsil Rawalpindi 34, tehsil Taxila 4, Sri 4 and tehsil Kotli Sittyain 4 while the remaining 11 localities fall under the jurisdiction of others.
The localities which required isolation include Khanah Dak, Tekht Pari, Seham, Shakaryal, Khotakalan, Gangal and others.
The slackness of the officials concerned in the finalisation of the demarcation of various localities has been decried by large number of people who demanded of the government to expedite the process.
