Students capture colours of Pakistan at concert

Students of four diverse primary schools of the capital mesmerised the audience here late Monday in a live concert ‘Sub Rung Hamare’ that captured the colours of Pakistan.
The Institute for Preservation for Art and Culture (IPAC) and Kuchh Khaas, Centre for Arts, Culture and Dialogue, arranged the show as a follow-up of summer workshop series for students from Mashal Model School, Khaldunia High School and Pehli Kiran School.
‘Sab Rang Hamare,’ project aims to promote peace and harmony among participants through the introduction of three forms of creative expression: music, dance and painting. By exploring these artistic mediums, the workshop additionally familiarised the students with Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage. Each day, students were exposed to a different kind of rare national musical tradition and throughout the week, they were joined by a number of celebrated Pakistani artists to enrich their knowledge of regional traditions.
To conclude the workshop, students showcased the art forms which they experienced at a final concert. The show focussed on regional dances specific to each of the four provinces of Pakistan, classical dances, folk music performances and classical music performances. On the occasion, a gallery displaying the paintings and art forms developed by the students was also set up. The performances by the students included Balochi, Sindhi, Punjabi and Pushto folk songs, Balochi Leva folk dance, Sindhi Jhoomar folk dance, Pakhtun Khattak folk dance, Punjabi Sammi folk dance, Kathak classical dance, Bharatanatyam classical dance, and classical singing.
While the performers were Sharif Khan, Safiullah Khan Yaqoob Khan, Shahzeb Khan, Bilal, Iqra Sardar, Sana Sardar, Maryam Shafiq, Shagufta Khan and Salma Shafiq from Mashal Model School, Zainab Haya Pasha, Anum Haroon Pasha, Eisha Rana Maqbool and Abdullah Khan from Khaldunia High School, Lubaba Haider and Hamael Haider from Head Start School, Ghulam Abbas from Pehli Kiran School and Maryam Zahid from LGS.
