Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Tuesday said that conducting local bodies elections could cause delay in general elections.
Talking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly, Rana Sanaullah said that significance of local bodies elections could not be denied but it is the time to prepare for the general elections. The minister said that local bodies elections should be held six months after the general elections.
Sanaullah said that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim is unprejudiced and it could be hoped that general elections would be free and transparent.
Commenting over the Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik, he said that he was responsible for lawlessness in Karachi and was looking for a chance to flee abroad.
He expressed concern over the high transport fares despite decrease in the prices of petroleum products and urged the government to review the prices of petroleum products after one month.
