Clueless thief steals fake sandwiches

A thief in Nanaimo, B.C., presumably hungry, stole some sandwiches from a 7-Eleven convenience store. There was one problem: They weren’t real sandwiches, they were plastic reproductions. The hungry heist happened last week around 3 a.m. when the man accused of the crime went into the store and allegedly attempted to steal two breakfast sandwiches. Sadly for him, the sandwiches were actually plastic sales props worth about $70 each — but not edible. When the starving suspect realized the sandwiches were fakes, he reportedly tossed one across the street and pocketed the other, according to the Nanaimo Bulletin. Police traced the suspect to a nearby hotel where he gave back the pilfered plastic. Since both items were returned undamaged, the owner of the 7-Eleven declined to press charges.
