Despite tall claims of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the project of shifting tube-wells to solar energy could not be completed even after the lapse many months.
The CDA was of the view that the completion of the plan would enable to supply two million gallons water on daily basis and this would overcome the water shortage in the city. The water crisis in the city arose due to expansion of the federal capital, and lack of proper planning to deal with the increased demand of water. The CDA on numerous occasions said that the work to transfer all tube-wells to solar system had been completed and all the 134 tube-wells of the capital would be shifted on solar energy, but the project still hangs in balance.
USAID to replace 187 tube-wells: The USAID would replace 187 tube-well water pumps owned by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) with more efficient models.
The replacement of tube-wells will save electricity and also improve the water supply system in the city.
The inaugural ceremony in this regard would be held at Fatima Jinnah Park Tuesday and attended by USAID Pakistan Mission Director Jock Conley and CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal.
The CDA chairman said last month that the authority was supplying around 68 million gallons of water per day that would be augmented once the civic body’s water supply network was repaired.
