Desra Village gets 20-bed hospital

Begum Mehmooda Welfare Trust (BMWT) has constructed 20-bed hospital for the people of Desra village of district Haripur.
The trust will ensure free of cost treatment, provision of medicines and out patient department (OPD) services to the ailing patients of the poor and needy families. As the area of Desra valley of Harripur district lacks quality healthcare services from the last many years which caused loss of many precious lives.
Taking an initiative, BMWT constructed modest hospital having the latest machines and equipments for the patients. The basic test examining labs will be inside the hospital so that all the patients can get the required treatment.
This initiative will help people of Desra Valley and villages in 20 kilometres area from the valley to save precious lives, cost of traveling and get better healthcare facilities at their doorsteps. The trust is set to start operations of the hospital in October this year. Hina Fysal, Chief Executive and Co-Founder of Begum Mehmooda Welfare Trust said: “The project is aimed at poverty alleviation through literacy, financial and medical assistance to the un-served communities living below the poverty line from decades”.
At present, the trust is working on five major programmes health improvement and medical, education, food, wedding composition and income support program in Harripur, Sangra, Desra valley of KPK and in some urban parts of Islamabad. To-date, the trust has changed the lives of more than 500 families in these areas, she mentioned”.
Under health improvement and medical program, the trust is working with government hospitals of twin cities to provide best medical facilities to the needy patients. It ensures provision of medicines and other health facilities from these hospitals. BMWT provides medicines and other remedial necessities to those people who cannot afford themselves.
