The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Sunday issued a show-cause notice to Deputy Attorney General (DAG) of Pakistan Khurshid Khan at the Peshawar High Court for “defaming” the country during a recent visit to India. The SCBA has asked the DAG what made him to polish shoes at an Indian shrine and asked for an explanation. The DAG belongs to Peshawar and was seen polishing shoes of people in India.
“The SCBA is livid and annoyed over the incident as the image of Pakistan has been damaged,” it said. Khurshid Khan spent several hours polishing shoes of worshippers at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in New Delhi on March 26, 2012 when he was in India as a part of a Pakistani Supreme Court Bar Association delegation (SCBA) to India. He left for Golden Temple, Amritsar the same day to clean thousands of more shoes.

  1. Bar Association (SCBA) is not correct in its assessment. SCBA should check Indian Newspaper. Khurshid Khan has created immense goodwill for Pakistanis and SCBA in India. SCBA is an important semi official organization. The presence of Khurshid Khan in delegation ensured Indians that SCBA is not some ISI sponsored Jihadist organization. If the idea of delegation was to create goodwill between two countries will then Khurshid Khan did succeed and Indians appreciated his humility. Whatever Khurshid Khan did in temples, it was in his personal capacity and he was not representing Pakistan. Khurshid Khan mentioned in his interviews in India that he does that In Pakistan too. If he finds peace in doing it, then let him do that. I understand that polishing shoes in temples is a ritual and people visiting temples participate in it. However, if SCBA feels hurt then I suggest that SCBA should try sending folks Hafiz Muhammad Saeed or Zaid Hamid to improve Pakistan image next time.

  2. I read this and saw picture ,what came into my mind is,that this is his personal belief. And the court has now authority to dishonour him. Court has better things to do. Dealing with real time corruption. This is a non issue. I’m disappointed at court. Seems they r stooping to the lowest level of interference.

  3. Our high official, for the first time di something humanitarian, otherwise they do apple polishing, eatup the public money by showing off Gucci s and Armanis and pearls and not paying taxes. Hats off to his sense of Goodwill for those who come to pay homage. ..Pakistani Court is not oblivious of the fact that this is one of its kind Beauraucrat who has made a bridge in hearts of these two tense nations by personally showing a gesture of care and humility ,,,!!!

  4. Thanks for correction Sir !I appreciate. But still I maintain the same views. Regards.
