Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday said the new contempt of court law was introduced just to protect corrupt politicians. “Violation of rule of law will prove dangerous for the survival of the country,” Khan said. Addressing the PTI cultural wing seminar, Khan said it was impossible for a country to follow different laws at the same time: one for special class while another for the downtrodden and common man. He said the government was deploying these tactics in order secure the laundered six billion rupees of President Asif Ali Zardari, adding that some of the politicians were trying to create panic by using the name of army. “The reality is that they have nothing to do with democratic values; rather their job is only to conceal their looted money which they have collected in the name of so-called government of the people,” Khan said. He said the country was already in grip of challenging problems, so any unconstitutional step would be hazardous and treacherous. Commenting on Fakhruddin G Ebrahim’s appointment as the chief election commissioner, Khan said candid and transparent polls were likely in the country.
