A short course was organised for the advance fingerprints collection, the spokesman of the Sindh police announced by here on Friday.
He said as many as 27 police officers and jawans participated in the course and that these included two policewomen, Amina Khatoon and Shahnila Ikram, who also topped the three best trainees of the programme. At the conclusion of the short course, a simple ceremony was organized on Friday which was also attended by the Consul General of the United States in Karachi, William Martin.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, and senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
It was informed that the women police officers and personnel were also being imparted training to perform their duties in the field as well.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP Sindh Fayyaz Leghari said that forensic investigation and collection of data helps in gathering evidence regarding crimes especially the heinous ones. He said that the resultant arrests of the accused help in improving the image of the police besides meeting the requirements of the criminal justice system.
Leghari spokes of cooperation of the US Consulate in Karachi with the Sindh police in streamlining the Forensic Division on modern lines. William Martin said that with advanced training the Sindh police would be in a positive to serve in a better way. He said that the cooperation would help strengthen further the ties between the USA and Pakistan.
