‘We need more mechanics’

President of TEVTA District Board of Management Shiekh Mohammad Arshad on Wednesday vowed to make full efforts to promote and consolidate technical and vocational training system in the province.
Presiding over the first ever TEVTA (Education and Vocational Training Authority) meeting, held at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said that since all the board members belong to various segments of the economy, their experience would be utilised to turn the TEVTA into an institution that would be providing demand-driven technical education and vocational training.
Arshad said that in consultation with the TEVTA chairman, a new methodology would be developed to upgrade existing TEVTA network to the benefit of trade and industry.
Arshad, who is also former LCCI senior vice president, urged the board members to design projects keeping in view the local as well as foreign manpower training requirements so that it could be forwarded to the chairman for implementation.
The members of the newly constituted board include Faheemur Rehman, Ahmad
Husnain, Raees A Sheikh, Hasnain Reza Mirza, Syed Mehmood Ghaznvi and Mian Asim Aziz.
