Policeman among four gunned down in Karachi

At least four people, including a policeman and a woman, were shot dead in different areas of the city on Wednesday. One 25 years old Abdul Rahim was gunned down in Faqir Colony, Orangi Town. Police sources said that the incident was a result of personal enmity. A woman named Salma Akhtar was also killed in Kalakot area of Lyari. Reports said that she was pregnant and was passing from the area at that time when some unidentified armed men opened fire at their rivals, who remained unhurt. But one bullet hit the woman, killing her on the spot. The assailants managed to flee from the scene after firing. According to police sources, they received a report regarding the presence of dacoits in a house located in Gharibabad area of Malir. In a surprise attack, dacoits opened gunfire when police party arrived on the scene. Constable Mushtaq, who was critically injured with a gunshot, was being taken to hospital; however, he could not survive and died on the way to hospital. Police sources said the miscreants holed up in the house and opened fire all of a sudden, leaving them too surprised to retaliate. A rickshaw driver was shot dead near Baloch Colony Bridge of the city. According to the rescue sources, unidentified gunmen came and opened fire on a rickshaw, leaving the driver dead on the spot. The bullet-riddled body of the driver was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center.
