Owing to negligence of the railways authorities, train tracks in the district are lacking proper safety measures and fences, which pose threat to the lives of the people crossing the tracks.
It was learnt that many persons have lost their lives while crossing the tracks. People cross the railway tracks without any fear due to absence of barriers, but the railway police are playing the role of silent spectators over the matter.
Sources said that people cross the tracks at random points for lack of proper safety measures and fences despite proper crossing points at Mareer Pul, Dhok Charaghdin, Saraie Kharbooza and others.
The authorities concerned have failed to install signboards inscribed with slogans restricting public from crossing tracks at random points.
The residents have demanded the Pakistan Railways divisional superintendent to take notice of the matter and ensure necessary safety arrangements. They have also sought action against those walking on the railway tracks.
