At least eight pilgrims were burnt alive while 28 others were injured in a collision between a coach and a car near Rasool Abad, 80 km from here, Tuesday night on the National Highway. The coach was carrying pilgrims from Sehwan Sharif to Sadiqabad when it collided with a car causing both vehicles to catch fire. Razak Faqeer, Saleem, Amina, Sonia, Mehran Khatoon, Irfan Mangi, and two other unidentified were burnt alive, while 28 passengers in both vehicles including Kaloo, Darya Khan, Hasnain , Irshad, Umar Farooq, Kishawar Khatoon, Mehwish, Zarina, Fazal, Sadiq, Bilawal, Rana Manzoor, Abdul Latif who were travelling by coach and Ghualm Abbas, Mai Wadhul, Aslam who were in the car received burn injuries.
They were rushed to hospitals in Hingorja, Ranipur, Gambat and Nawabshah for treatment where the condition of ten is stated to be critical. The fire brigade was called but it did not reach on time while the motorway police rushed there and rescued the injured passengers from coach.
