A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck large swathes of Pakistan, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Northwestern tribal region.
According to reports, the tremors shook the areas around 30 seconds, spreading panic among the people. The tremors were felt for 35 seconds around 7:01pm while residents came out of their houses, reciting verses from the Holy Quran.
Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Riaz said the quake was recorded 6.1 magnitudes on the Richter scale.
TV reports said the tremors were felt in Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodah, Dera Ismail Khan, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Mardan, North Waziristan, Swat, Hangu, Battagram, Nowshera and Hazara division.
According to Meteorological Office, the epicenter of the quake was recorded 194 kilometers deep under Koh-e-Hindukash. No loss of life and property has been reported from the affected areas so far.
