The Supreme Court has summoned the attorney general in the IPPs dues recovery case today (Wednesday). A four-member SC bench, headed by Justice Tassaduq Jillani, was hearing the petition filed by eight thermal power houses (IPPs). During the hearing, the IPPs’ lawyer Fakharuddin G Ebrahim told the court that power load shedding could be reduced by four hours if the IPPs’ dues were paid on time. Ebrahim told the court that the government had still not paid Rs 56 billion to the IPPs that had been agreed in the agreement, adding that power load shedding was one of the major problems in the country and if it further increased by four hours, the common man would be badly affected.
