On the directives of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed, Municipal Services Department of KMC has finalised necessary measures for dealing with any emergency during the expected monsoon rains.
An emergency meeting was also held under the chair of Municipal Services Senior Director Dr Shaukat Zaman, said a statement issued by the KMC on Tuesday.
On this occasion, arrangements of rain and past experience were reviewed and officers were strictly directed to pay special attention on such locations where rainwater accumulated and caused incontinence for citizens.
Therefore, all concerned crew along with necessary machinery and water drainage pumps were directed to be prepared for the upcoming rains in the city, the statement added.
The municipal senior director also directed fumigation staff to get ready for after rains insecticide spray in the city so that fumigation process could be initiated right after the end of rains and the citizens could be saved from contagious diseases.
Meanwhile, the second meeting in this connection has been scheduled to be held on July 11 under chairmanship to review the arrangements for rains within the limits of District East, West and Malir.
Among other notables, the meeting was attended by Director Noman Arshad, officers of machine pole depot and municipal services department and officers of district municipal corporation central and district south.
