Special girls excel in SSC exams

Special children from special education centres functioning under the Directorate General of Special Education and Social Welfare excelled in the matriculation examination conducted by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) for the academic year 2012.
A total of 24 students (13 boys and 11 girls) appeared in the exams from National Special Education Centre for Hearing Impaired Children, H-9 Islamabad, and the result of the centre remained 100%. Sana Ashraf obtained the highest marks 852 and got first position; Sehar Rubab secured 787 marks and got second position while Maryam Rafique got 780 and bagged third position.
A total of 11 students from National Special Education Centre for Visually Impaired Children appeared in the matriculation exams and the result of the centre remained 99%. Amna Azhar secured 841 marks and got first position, Muhammad Fareed-ul-Hassan obtained 773 marks and got second position, Tahira Kausar obtained 765 and got third position.
A total of 9 students appeared in the matriculation examination from National Special Education Centre for Physically Handicapped Children and the result remained 89%. Kamran Khan of National Special Education Centre for Physically Handicapped Children got first position and secured 683. Syed Mustafain Kazmi.
The Special Education and Social Welfare director general congratulated the students on competing with normal schoolchildren and showed extraordinary results in the matriculation exams conducted by FBISE for the academic year 2011-12. He appreciated the efforts of National Special Education Centre’s principals and teachers. He further said that these students have worked extremely hard and shown commitment, courage and desire to become productive segment of the society despite of being having some sort of disability.
