Punjab, Guinness World to sign deal to record Youth Festival

The Punjab Government and Guinness World Records are going to sign a contract to put on record the record breaking performances in the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 being held here in August after Eid.
This was stated by Deputy Speaker and Chairman Organizing Committee Sports Punjab Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan here on Monday after chairing the meeting of the officials of the Lahore Division organizing committee for Punjab Youth Festival, National Youth Festival and International Youth Festival 2012. Also present on the occasion were Secretary Sports Punjab Haroon Ahmed Khan and Director General Sports Board Punjab and Youth Affairs Usman Anwar.
“Our sportsmen and people taking part in the festival will be attempting a number of records in various fields including sports and we hope that to put the name of Pakistan in the book through the splendid performance of our sportsmen and talented people,” said Rana Mashood.
“Some representatives of the Guinness World will be visiting Lahore shortly to sign a contract with Punjab Government to record the outstanding performances which will set new marks in the book,” he asserted. During the meeting clear and specific instructions were given to the officials to make the festival a big success by taking every aspect of the festival as a social work and not as a burden. Rana Mashhood said that the Youth Festival is going to be the biggest social and sports carnival which will be the mass participation of people from all walks of life.
He also praised the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab for conceiving the idea of first the Punjab Sports Festival and then the announcement of the Youth Policy and now the holding of the Youth Festival, which is being followed by the world in which countries like Australia, India and Europe’s Norway are holding the youth festivals in line of the Punjab Sports Festival, that was held three months ago. “They have followed this trend and are organizing their festivals on similar patrons on which we organized the Punjab Sports Festival,” he maintained.
“We have started to receive positive vibes which are the outcome of the Punjab Sports Festival and now all the enthusiastic approach of the people have started to come at a time when a negative picture of the country is being portrayed in the world.
He said the prime objective of the Fes want to portray a positive image of Pakistan with the participation of foreign teams which will feature in the international sports festival to be organized in November. “It is a heartening sign that around 22 countries have already confirmed their participation in the Punjab International Youth Festival,” he concluded.
