US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter on Monday demanded Pakistan to take serious actions against banned outfits working in the country. The demand of the US ambassador came after Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) is carrying out a ‘long march’ against the government for the reopening of NATO routes. Banned outfits including Jammat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat were also participating in the march. During his meeting with Rehman Malik, the ambassador said Pakistan should take necessary steps for the safeguard of NATO trucks as the law and order situation in Pakistan was not satisfactory after the reopening of the routes.
“Pakistan should take necessary steps for the protection of US diplomats and citizens living in the country,” Munter said.
Malik assured the ambassador that Pakistan would provide foolproof security to foreigners, including US citizens, and said that maintaining law and order in the country is the top priority for the government.
