While the Bangladesh team is getting ready to play the three Twenty20s against Ireland later this month, Cricket Ireland (CI) has expressed its desire to play more matches against the full members. Aaccording to its Chief Executive Officer Warren Deutrom, “We are one of two members that received US$1.5 million over the next three years towards the projects that we outlined in our application, which were for more ODIs/T20Is against the full members, for the establishment of a domestic inter-provincial structure and to establish a new national academy.” “Cricket Ireland presented to the ICC Financial & Commercial Affairs Committee last month about our application for ICC’s Targeted Assistance and Performance Program (TAPP). We shall now be in further discussions with ICC about how we might prioritise those projects,” he added. “Ireland has not applied for Full Member status. We signalled our intention to apply back in 2009, which helped generate the processes that have led to ICC’s own independent governance review, a review which contemplates how ICC membership might be reformed”. “This process was now discussed in greater detail by the ICC Board and its relevant sub-committees and it is appropriate that we wait for the outcome of this process”, he signed off.
