The Difa-e-Pakistan Council peacefully ended their log march that they carried out in protest against the reopening of NATO supply routes to Afghanistan after staging a sit-in outside the Parliament House on Monday. Addressing the participants, the leaders of the DPC vowed to resist the restoration of NATO supplies.
Hafiz Saeed said NATO supplies through Pakistan would be stopped at every cost, adding that conspiracies of India and the US would not be allowed to succeed. “Rather, such tactics would be defeated with the support of the masses who are the real representatives of the society,” he said. He said the purpose of the long march was to get rid of the US slavery, adding that Washington was defeated in Afghanistan and was now was planning to leave it.
Maulana Samiul Haq said the success of the long march was a viable proof of imprudent policies of the government, and dangers faced by ideological and geographical boundaries of the federation.
Haq said the DPC would also hold a long march from Peshawar to Torkham on July 16. He highlighted the illegal activities of such figures as Raymond Davis of CIA and others who were “still quite active throughout Pakistan”, and “the recent attack on an army camp in Gujrat was also a part of this chain of events.” The crowd chanted slogans including “Death to the USA” and one speaker called for the arrest of the CIA chief in Pakistan.
