Imran says he will contest elections against Nawaz

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said he would contest the upcoming elections against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to a private TV channel, he said both the PML-N and the ruling PPP had destroyed the country’s institutions. The corrupt leadership of both parties had looted the public wealth and transferred it to foreign banks, adding that they did not want to have their accountability. “Both corrupt parties have disappointed the nation who is looking for a change.” Criticising the PML-N, Khan said it was not a reliable party as Nawaz had deceived the nation three times in the past. “Those who describe Zardari as a corrupt person, remained in alliance with him for three years,” he said. He said the PML-N was playing the same role as Fazlur Rehman played during Musharraf’s regime.
Talking about the upcoming elections, he said he would not form AN alliance with any party which had representation in the present parliament. However, he said if the PTI could not attain a simple majority in the elections, it would sit on the opposition benches. Khan said the PTI would stage a protest in Peshawar on July 14 against restoration of NATO supplies. “Moreover, if the rulers make any attempt to destroy or malign the honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan, the PTI will hold a long march,” he warned.

  2. We may not know much about Imran Khan but we know everthing about zardari and nawaz. That alone is reason enough to give Imran a chance. We already know what others stand for and what they have done in the past. Unless we want more of the same, we need a change. May the best (not the most corrupt) person win.

  7. If the general population was not so illiterate and ignorant, ppp and pml would never stand a chance in any election. By now they'd be finished. It is on purpose that these two parties do not want people educated. It erodes their votes.

  9. Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif must come clear on Dual Nationality, instead of playing just politics on it. No way should any dual nationality holder be allowed to contest polls, or hold any public office in Pakistan. Right to vote is not an issue for expatriate Pakistani holders holding a valid NIC or a Pakistani passport. A Dual Nationality holder who has stayed without any break of more than a total 0f 90 days in preceding 5 yearsand payed his taxes in Pakistan should only be allowed to vote.

Imran Khan has no experience,he is not a politician,he became famous from playing cricket,but when you look at the alternatives(PPP and PML-N)he could'nt do any worse.Atleast he has good intentions even though they are far from reality.I've read some comments,PPP zindabad and few others on PML-N,you guys must be stupid and out of your minds,you must like being without every need in life to survive daily,no progress,corruption,no future,the list goes on and on.I cannot write this any simpler then that.How can you fools possibly argue any of it huh.You want a better life,vote for anyone other than PPP or PML-N,you want the same crap,vote for these blood sucking people and then you deserve to live in hell,darkness moving backwards.It does'nt take a rocket scientist to figure out all this,even every kid on the street knows what these people are about.They are all covering their a$$e$ with immunity so they cannot be held responsible.

    • I agree to a point, we dont know how well Imran is going to perform. However, lots of research has confirmed Leadership is learnt & honed, something Imran has worked on so lets give him a chance.

      If he fails, we will make him accountable just like any leader should be held accountable.

  12. Instead of waiting to contest against Nawaz Sharif in next elections 2013 – Mr.Imran Khan should have contested against son of Mr.Gillani – to see where is stands in the public… PTI is sham-party.

The last election he contested from Lahore in 2002 (NA-122 Lahore V) he lost to Sardar Ayaz Sadiq of PML-N with a great margin inspite of the fact that Mr. Imran Khan was the favourite candidate of Gen. (R) Pervaiz Musharraf and PML-N was on the receiving end at taht time. Although now PTI is not the same PTI (AS they claim) even then I think he still can get a thrashing from Sardar Ayaz Saddiq let alone Mian Nawaz Sharif.

    • forget ayaz sadiq…he belongs to my constituency and i know the ground realities…there is no chance of ayaz sadiq being successful this time…he is gonna lose 🙂

  14. Imran should have contested Multan bye-election to prove his popularity. PTI runs away from all bye-elections becasue his popularity claims will be exposed. By the way, it looks as if the supreme people's court is going to reject unconstitutional judgements of Dual PCO Judge Iftikhar. The people's verdict is going to be eggs on the faces of all PCO & corrupt judges. Shame!!!

  17. While looking at the results of 2002 I have come know about an intesting fact. Can you guess who was the candidate for PTI from NA- 48 (Islambad – I)??? Hishighness Sahibzada Ahmed Raza Khan Qasuri. He had many fame first he was Anti-Bhutoo than Anti-CJ and lastly his face was painted black. I wants to know on which rank is he in PTI now???
