Cops foil aged groom’s plan to marry teenager

Police foiled a 60-year-old man’s attempt to marry a 16-year-old girl, arresting six persons in a raid on the ceremony late Friday night. According to details, a police team raided a house in Mianwali where a 16-year-old girl hailing from Swabi was being wedded to Noor Ahmed, 60, from Mianwali. The cops arrested Noor Ahmed, his brother Din Muhammad along with wife Parveen, a witness named Nazir and the Nikah Khwan Abdul Jabbar Shah. The aged groom told the police that he had paid Rs 110,000 to the adolescent girl’s parents for the marriage. The bride was sent to Darul Amaan.
