Aerial firing in PPP rally sends one to hereafter

Aerial firing by the supporters of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Usman Bhatti during a welcome rally claimed the life of a man on Saturday. The incident took place during local body elections in the Hasanabad area as PPP supporters welcomed Bhatti to the rally with intense aerial firing, which killed a local man. Reports say police have arrested two people in this regard.
Another PPP rally by former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son Abdul Qadir Gilani in NA-151 proved no less peaceful, as party supporters brandished sophisticated weapons and asserted their power through an almost thirty-minute long episode of aerial firing. Apart from the intimidated local population, police officials watched the noisy spectacle with exemplary passivity. Abdul Qadir Gilani, who has been a member of Punjab Assembly (MPA) is gearing up to contest by-election on the NA-151 seat vacated by his father following his disqualification by the Supreme Court in the contempt of court case. Sources confirmed that the PPP had decided to award ticket to the former PM’s son, who will give up his Punjab Assembly seat to contest the poll. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has already announced the schedule for by-election in NA-151 Multan-IV for the National Assembly seat. According to the schedule, the poll will be held
