Deputy Chief of Mission for the US embassy, Richard Hoagland on Friday said there was no new agreement with Pakistan regarding the reopening of the NATO supply route.
Talking to reporters, Hoagland said relations were resumed from the point where they had been left in November last year.
He said the reopening of the supply route would help eliminate the trust deficit in Pak-US relations.
“There are differences on the issue of Dr Shakil Afridi and the work of US diplomats but these issues were not part of the recent negotiations between the two countries,” Hoagland said.
Earlier‚ addressing a pre-departure orientation session for the winners of Fulbright Scholarship Programme‚ Hoagland said thousands of Pakistani students had acquired higher education in the American universities under the programme.
He said the US had a tradition of embracing international students‚ including those from Pakistan.
Executive Director of US Education Foundation in Pakistan‚ Rita Akhtar said over 180 Pakistani students had been awarded Fulbright scholarship in Masters and PhD classes this year.
She said presently there were greater opportunities for Pakistan students to study in the United States.
