A team of Excise and Taxation officials seized 1,650 kilogrammes of opium from a truck and arrested its driver at the Sindh- Punjab border near Ghotki on Thursday.
Official sources said that the consignment of opium was recovered from the hidden portions of truck No 587 during the search. The truck driver identified as Zafar Iqbal was also arrested. Further investigation is uderway. In order to ensure full coverage of the vaccination, he informed that the campaign would be monitored through eight zonal administrators, 54 medical officers and 168 areas-in-charge at union council level. The deputy commissioner asked all assistant commissioners, mukhtiarkars and revenue officers of the district to personally monitor the campaign and submit the coverage report to his office on a daily basis.
