The Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday expressed their reservations over an amendment allowing dual nationals in parliament. The ANP said that the law should only be applicable for the person’s nominated for the offices of president, prime minister or the army leadership and judges. Opposing the bill, the PML-N criticised the contempt of court amendment bill and said that the bill is equivalent to restricting the judiciary’s authority. Haji Adeel, a central leader of the government allied ANP, presented the party’s stance when President Asif Ali Zardari contacted him. Adeel said, “If such laws are not enforced, then people like Mansoor Ijaz can also become the president of Pakistan one day.”

  1. There will be a long line of foreigners coming in to rule Pakistan. Pakistanis will bow down to them because, out of 180 million people, Pakistanis cannot find one single who is honest and worthy of leading them. Now they will turn to foreigners to come and fix their problems. Good luck with that. There is not another nation in the world that is so bent on destroying itself.

  2. Holding dual nationality is not a crime. There are hundreds of thousands citizens in Pakistan that hold dual nationality. Not only in Pakistan but across the world people hold dualnationalities even the case of UK, Saeeda Warsi and Lord Nazir Ahmed is a clear example. Infact we Pakistanis are suffering from xenophobia therefore we are getting alienated on international political and social landscape. The verdict on Farah Naz Ispahani case is no wonder; it was enough that she is the wife of Hussain Haqqani. By hook or crook court had to target her. After biting dust in memogate scandal courts had to fine at lease some other way to settler its scores. This partiality in delivering justice should be end now.
