Floods top Shahbaz’s hate list, after dengue and Zardari

Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday ordered Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and other authorities concerned to make the best possible arrangements in case of flooding during the monsoon season. Chairing the meeting at his Minar-e-Pakistan tent office, Shahbaz said that strengthening of the embankments needed to be completed as soon as possible to minimize the destruction caused by floods. The meeting that was held to review the preparations to deal with flood threats was attended by senior advisor to chief minister Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa, provincial ministers, heads of various provincial departments and divisional commissioners.
Sharif said keeping in view the destruction caused by 2010 flood, all concerned departments needed to make fool proof arrangements so as to protect the lives and properties of public. He also directed all concerned provincial departments to remain on red alert and use all available resources to facilitate people of province in case of floods during monsoon season.
The chief minister stressed the need for timely completion of strengthening the embankments to lessen the destruction of floods.
