The Norwegian government has decided to provide US$3 million in assistance to the people in Kyber-Pakhtunkwa.
Norway increases its humanitarian support for Pakistan to US$12.2 million in 2012, says a press release.
“We are increasing our support, which will be channeled through the Norwegian Refugee Council and Save the Children Norway. These organisations are present on the ground and can provide emergency relief,” said Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre.
“Norway provides vital help to people who have been forced to flee from their homes,” says Norway’s ambassador to Pakistan, Ms Cecilie Landsverk. “We are committed to the important work of providing displaced children with schooling and must assure that the future of these children is not lost,” she said.
Norway’s humanitarian support is now at NOK 73 million (approx. $12,2 mill), which includes the recently announced support of NOK 5 million (approx $ 0,83 mill) to the Emergency Relief Fund Pakistan.
