The city district government (CDG) is taking solid steps for the beautification of Murree Road – the main artery that connects the twin cities, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The road is being given a new look. It has been divided into three sectors; one is from Mareer Chowk to Naz Cinema, 2nd sector is from Naz Cinema to 6th Road and the last one is from 6th Road to Faizabad.
Tehsil Municipal Authority (TMA) Rawal Town, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), PHA, Works & Sanitary department and Punjab Highways had been made responsible to work as a unit for the purpose.
It was decided in a meeting held here which was jointly chaired by MNA Hanif Abbasi along with DCO Rawalpindi Saqib Zafar. Administrator Rawal Town/ADC(G) Saif Anwar Jappa, RDA DG Ch. Naseer Ahmed, CTO Ishtiaq Shah, MD, PHA Capt. (Retd) Mushtaq Ahmed, MD, WASA Raja Shaukat Mehmud, XEN Punjab Highways Mashkoor Ahmed Khan, DO Buildings Mirza Naeem Baig and DO Road Malik Liaquat Ali attended the meeting.
TMA Rawal Town officials were directed to remove all sort of wall chalking and FIR should be lodged against those who were found involved in this act and the violators of the orders should be arrested to stop this practice. No compromise should be made to control wall chalking.
The religious scholars and leaders should be approached and requested to avoid wall chalking on the occasion of their public gatherings. The mushroom growth of billboards which are fixed without formal approval should immediately be removed. Banners, posters and hand bills should also be removed and without approval of TMA Rawal Town and City District Government no billboard should be allowed to be fixed on Murree Road.
Similarly without approval no banner should be displayed on Murree road. PHA officials were directed to plant ever green and ornamental trees and plants on the median and green belts of Murree Road.
RDA officials were also directed to mark lanes and zebra crossings where it was necessary. MNA Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that Said Pur Road, 6th Road, 5th Road and 4th Road should also be beautified with plants.
DCO directed all the departments to feel their responsibilities to make Murree Road beautiful and attractive so that the city could be given a new look.
