At least four people were killed in separate incidents of firing in different areas of the city on Wednesday, police said, adding that more than two dozen suspects were also arrested during targeted operations in various areas.
According to details, Muhammad Sarwar was shot dead in Lines Area in unidentified gunmen’s firing.
A rickshaw driver, who was injured in a firing incident on Tuesday in Orangi Town, succumbed to injuries at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The body was shifted to a local hospital for postmortem where the identity of the deceased was yet to be confirmed.
A dead body of an unidentified man was found from sea at China Creek, Clifton area.
A limb-tied body was found near Surjani Town police station.
Six persons were reported injured in separate firing incidents in Sohrab Goth, Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony and other areas of the city.
The police sealed the Bohra Pir and surrounding areas and launched search operation. During the operation, 26 suspects were arrested and arms were recovered from their possession.
Two members of a robbers’ gang – stating to be a couple – were arrested during a raid at a house in Liaquatabad. The detainees identified as Nadeem and his wife Ambreen were wanted in various police stations for different cases of robberies, purse snatching and other crimes.
Citizens of the metropolis have criticized the role of law enforcement agencies due to the deteriorating situation of law and order in the city. They have demanded the provincial and federal governments to chalk out a long-term strategy to stop the uncontrolled target killing and violence in the city.
39 accused held in 24 hours: The Karachi police in a drive against criminals arrested 39 accused during the past 24 hours. A police statement on Wednesday said that as many as 14 pistols, one Kalashinkov, a hand grenade, a mouser, a dagger and four mobile phones were recovered from the arrested criminals. The police have registered cases and started investigations, the statement added.
