Political adviser of President Asif Ali Zardari, Faisal Raza Abidi, resigned from advisory and presidentship of Pakistan People’s Party Karachi Division. Abidi, who is well known for his hard talks in media, forwarded his resignation letter to the party leadership. PPP Karachi Division Secretary Information Kosar Amir has confirmed the report of Abidi’s resignation. Sources said Abidi was inactive in party activities for a long time and he had differences with the party leadership. Abidi had earlier contested from NA-253 against Haider Abbas Rizvi of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) during the 2008 elections. He had been selected as the president of PPP’s Karachi division after the elections but was removed after a year after complaints were received against him. The PPP leader has been a part of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) since 2008 and member of Senate since 2009.
